How to choose interior doors
- Match the architecture. Mid-century homes (Studio City, Encino, Beverly Hills Flats) want flush slabs in walnut or white oak. Spanish revival (Hancock Park, Pasadena) wants plank-style with arched tops. Contemporary builds (Calabasas, Newport Beach) suit modern interior with large flat panels. More on style match →
- Solid core for bedrooms and offices. Anywhere sound matters. Hollow core only for closets and pantries.
- Standard 80" or upgrade to 84"/96"? If your ceilings are 9' or higher, taller doors look right. Below that, stick with 80".
- Slab or prehung? Existing jamb in good shape → slab. New construction or DIY install → prehung. Full comparison →
- Pre-finished or unfinished? Solid wood doors ship raw by default; primed MDF and white laminate ship ready-to-install.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between interior and exterior doors?
Interior doors are lighter (typically 1-3/8" or 1-3/4" thick) and don't need weather seals — they're for room-to-room openings inside the climate envelope. Exterior doors are heavier (1-3/4" or 2-1/4"), include weatherstripping and threshold, and use weather-resistant finishes. Don't mix them up — interior doors used as exterior will warp within a year.
Can I get all interior doors in matching wood and finish?
Yes. Order all your interior doors at once and we'll factory-finish them in matching stain or paint. Continuity in wood species and finish is one of the strongest design moves you can make — every door looks intentional.
How many interior doors does a typical LA home need?
3-bedroom homes typically have 8–12 interior doors (3 bedrooms + 2 bathrooms + closets + pantry + laundry + office). 4–5 bedroom homes run 12–18. We offer multi-door volume pricing on 5+ door orders.
How long does delivery take?
Most stock interior doors to LA County ship within 24 hours and arrive in 1–2 business days. Orange County typically 2 business days. Prehung-assembled stock units take 1–3 business days to build, then ship. Custom doors run 4–8 weeks.
Do you offer installation?
We don't install in-house — we partner with professional door installers we trust across LA and Orange County. We'll connect you with the right installer for your project.
